Michael Eklund had performed in the theatre in high school,
he originally set out to pursue a career as an artist attending
the prestigious Alberta College of Art. After meeting the lovely
actor/writer Megan Bennett, whom is now his wife, he dropped out
of the art program to follow his dream of becoming an actor and
moved to Vancouver. Eklund’s passion for acting is fuelled by a
love for film and he has established himself as a valuable
character in both film and television.
Eklund is one of Canada's busiest up-and-coming actors, with
a wide and versatile range, who has come to be known for
disappearing into every role and radically transforming his look
for each new character. Most recently Eklund morphed into “Earl”
the mullet sporting caretaker for Zixx Level Two; co-starred as undercover
narc “Rene Desjardine” in the new dramatic mini-series Intelligence;
and plays the lead “Henry Lundquist”, a drug addict who goes through
the pain of one woman's battle with cancer, in the highly-anticipated
mini series Terminal City.
Eklund’s other film credits include The Entrance, Blackwoods,
Deadly Visions, and the cult favourite House of the Dead.
His movie of the week credits include leads in the New
Beachcombers Christmas, We Will Meet Again, and Living
with the Dead. Eklund has guest starred on such episodic
series as The 4400, Touching Evil, Cold Squad, Dead Like Me, Romeo,
Mysterious Ways, Davinci’s Inquest and countless others.
Eklund’s other passions include painting, coffee and psycho
analyzing life with his friends. Eklund originally hails
from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
